Ramsey Strikes Often, Rolls to Liberty Crown

WAYNE -- Mahwah brought its Thunderbirds. Ramsey brought its lightning strikes.

In a much-anticipated Big North Liberty Cup ice hockey final Friday night, the second-seeded Rams dominated from the start and flexed, once again, their championship pedigree.

Using a pair of quick-hit scores in the first and second periods, Ramsey cruised to its fourth straight Cup title with an 8-0 win over the rival Thunderbirds.

Seniors Dale Cheyne and Frank Steffe scored 49 seconds apart early in the first to set the tone. Sophomore Dan Halik and senior Garrett Mast later provided scores 29 seconds apart early in the second to grab a 4-0 lead.
