AN inquest into the death of a woman whose body was found two days after she pleaded not to be discharged from a psychiatric ward, heard a recording of a desperate 999 call she made.

Susan George, 56, from Healey, Rochdale, phoned police from the John Elliott Unit at Birch Hill Hospital on the day she was due to leave.

Her body was found two days later on November 12, 2014, at Healey Dell Nature Reserve. She had taken an overdose of drugs, including antidepressant medication. During the call, Miss George told call- handler Jenna Cahill: "I want to take my own life. What can I do? Nobody is listening. The staff will not listen to me, they are told to ignore me.
