Alexis Osorio Throws No-Hitter against Georgia State

ATLANTA -- The University of Alabama softball team shut out both of its Saturday opponents at Georgia State's Panther Invitational, including a no-hitter from Alexis Osorio in the opener.

Osorio pitched Alabama to a 7-0 win against Mercer in the first game, and the Crimson Tide followed that with a 9-0 win against host Georgia State in a six-inning game.

Alabama (9-1) concludes its weekend at the Panther Invitational today a 9 a.m. with a rematch against Maryland. Alabama beat Maryland, 1-0, Friday. Alabama also had a 10-2 win against Miami (Ohio) on Friday.

In the two games on Saturday, Alabama's pitchers allowed a total of four hits, all by Georgia State, and struck out 15.

In the Mercer game, Osorio was just one hit-by-pitch away from a perfect game. After going 15-up, 15-down through five innings, Mercer's Kaytlin Haney was hit by a pitch to lead off the sixth and erase the perfect game. Osorio rebounded to retire the next three batters and then did the same in the bottom of the seventh to end the game and cap the no-hitter. …
