Ikea recalls ceiling lamps

Ikea North America Services LLC, of Conshohocken, Pa., is recalling about 840,000 (in addition, about 427,000 were sold in Canada) ceiling lamps because the plastic retaining clips that secure the glass shades to the lamp housings can break and allow the glass shades to fall, posing a laceration hazard.

Ikea has received 224 reports of incidents worldwide of retaining clips breaking and glass shades falling, including with 11 injuries. Three incidents with no injuries were reported in the U.S.

This recall involves Ikea HYBY and LOCK ceiling lamps. The lamps have domed white frosted glass shades and three plastic clips that attach the shade to steel electrical lamp housings. Type number and the model name are on a label attached to the electrical lamp housing. …
