As stated by a 19th-century philosopher (Toqueville or de Maistre), "People get the government which they deserve." Commentators have concluded that the voting public, angry with the current state of politics, is gravitating to the political outsiders.

Recent debates have underscored the limitations of these favored candidates. On the Democratic side Bernie Sanders has the passion and spot-on assessment of current social and economic inequities but not a workable plan for how his goals can be accomplished. Hillary Clinton has clear goals and means of implementation, but isn't as likable and is pegged as establishment.

On the Republican side John Kasich is sincere with a seeming joy in serving. He has viable plans to implement well-thought-out goals, but doesn't have the charisma of the other candidates. …
