Accused of Sexual Abuse, Teacher Weighs 5-Year Deal

A military services teacher at Eastside High School in Paterson who was accused of sexually abusing three students was offered a plea deal on Monday that carries a five-year prison term.

Trevor Sanders, who was an adviser at the school's Reserve Officers' Training Corps program, pleaded not guilty Monday in state Superior Court in Paterson to an indictment charging him with official misconduct, sexual assault, criminal sexual contact and child endangerment.

Sanders was arrested in June 2015 and charged with groping two teenage female students, and authorities said soon afterward that there may be more victims involved.

The indictment returned on Feb. 8 by a Passaic County grand jury alleges that Sanders sexually touched three victims. One victim is under the age of 13, and two others are between ages 13 and 18, according to the indictment. …
