HYDE UNITED finally ended their wretched league run as they came from behind to beat Whitby Town 2-1 in the Evo-Stik Premier last night.

Kick-off was delayed at Ewen Fields for over an hour as Whitby were held up in traffic, yet the visitors took the lead through David McTiernan from a 16th-minute corner.

Ayrton Bevins then drew Hyde level on 52 minutes before putting the Tigers in front 13 minutes later.

Substitute Reece Gray went to close sealing victory in stoppage time but Hyde had done enough to claim their first win in 15 league matches, a run which had stretched back to October 26.

STAYBRIDGE CELTIC are set to return to action tonight in the National League North, when victory away to Worcester City will send them back above Stockport County and joint-11th with Tameside rivals Curzon Ashton. …
