MANUEL Pellegrini faces a huge team selection dilemma tonight.

The Blues boss will either have to go into the game with a daring 4-4-2 line-up, or invite more scorn over his FA Cup side by selecting Fernando to bolster midfield.

With injuries cutting deep into his midfield options, Pellegrini seems set to pick a front two of Sergio Aguero and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Before the weekend, it seemed a good bet that Pellegrini would try to replicate City's best European away display to date, when they won 3-1 at Sevilla in the group stage.

That involved Fernando excelling in an anchor role which gave Fernandinho and Yaya Toure free rein to get forward and feed the pace of Jesus Navas and Raheem Sterling, with Wilfried Bony playing the hold-up man.

But Fernando played 78 minutes of the 5-1 Cup defeat by Chelsea on Sunday, with Pellegrini making it plain he was keeping his senior players rested for the Kiev game. …
