Where's the Outrage over Killing 80 Deer?

After reading "Deer SWAT team called in to cull 80 from Upper St. Clair herd," (Dec. 15, South) I was astonished why there was only one resident expressing outrage to the Board of Commissioners that high-powered rifle hunting would be allowed 150 yards from his back yard, and why there weren't more residents demanding a hearing to discuss safety, effectiveness and humane concerns.

Why aren't USC residents asking the board why they are spending 20,000 of their tax dollars?

What facts are commissioners basing their estimate of 800 deer in the park on? I reviewed USC's Web site and found two infrared aerial deer census reports for the entire township. The totals were 155 deer in 2001 and 190 deer in 2002. Are commissioners exaggerating their estimate to justify the slaughter of 80 deer at the cost of 20,000 tax dollars? …
