OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Council approved an in-kind gift from the Oklahoma City Community Foundation and Oklahoma Department of Forestry Services to support tree inventory for the Parks & Recreation Department.

The project will provide a detailed analysis of the trees located in city parks, trails and medians, and will allow park planners and horticulture workers to better evaluate the health of trees and create a replacement plan for future growth. The Oklahoma City Community Foundation gave $95,000 for the inventory project, and the Department of Forestry Services gave $25,800.

"This is the first time in our department's modern history that we'll be able to create a full inventory of our park trees, and the benefits are endless," said Douglas Kupper, Parks & Recreation director. …
