Redevelopment may be in sight for the block-long and vacant Jefferson Arms in downtown St. Louis.

Mike Sarimsakci, founder and president of real estate developer Alterra International, has the building under contract for an undisclosed price.

His plans for the Jefferson Arms were unclear but could be similar to Alterra's hotel-and-apartment redevelopment of an old Butler Brothers warehouse in Dallas.

Real estate investor David Jump, who owns the building, was unavailable for comment.

Tim McGowan, managing partner of McGowan Brothers Development which for years has wanted to redo the Jefferson Arms said Wednesday that Sarimsakci had the building under contract.
