Services Set for Today, Saturday for Two of Three Victims of Fire at Homewood Boarding House

Services have been set for two of the three men killed last week in a fire at a Homewood boarding house.

Pittsburgh police said Latoya Lyerly, 42, admitted to setting the Feb. 17 fire after she said voices in her head told her that it was her "mission" to kill everyone inside the house.

She was charged with three counts of homicide, arson and other offenses and was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. today in City Court, Downtown.

A memorial service will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today for Calvin Turner, 56, at Spriggs-Watson Funeral Home, 720 N. Lang Ave., Homewood, followed by his funeral.

Mr. Turner, also known as "Carwash," got his nickname by washing cars in Homewood. Friends said he was also a passionate artist. …
