Home Loss Hits Sedge's Promotion Push

SEDGLEY Park Tigers boss Geoff Roberts has insisted promotion can still be achieved, despite his side's 20-24 defeat to Caldy on Saturday.

Despite being second in National League Two North, Sedge now sit 18 points behind leaders Macclesfield after slipping up at home.

Caldy travelled to North Manchester off the back of three straight defeats, but it now means that they are just six points behind Sedge in the race for a play-off spot.

However, Roberts is still optimistic his side has what it takes to achieve promotion this season: "Saturday was just one of those days where we didn't quite press the buttons that we wanted to press, but you've always got to give credit to the opposition who came out the blocks and had a real go at us.

"It's a missed opportunity, in terms of we need Macclesfield to really crack now in order to catch them. …
