Troubled No More Rad's Trust Returns to the August Wilson Center

In October 2013, the Allegheny Regional Asset District served notice that it would stop funding the then very troubled August Wilson Center. The Downtown arts and cultural venue was threatened with foreclosure, and it looked as if its days of receiving support from RAD were over.

A lot has changed since then, and the RAD board acknowledged thatwelcome turnaround last week by awarding a $333,333 grant to the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust to be used to underwrite operating costs at the center. This vote of confidence indicates growing optimism in the center's ability to get on a sustainable path and maintain it - thanks to its new board, closer coordination with several leading foundations and its newly retired debt.
