Clinton Holds Big Lead over Sanders in Florida

Democrats the race continues

Hillary Clinton has a commanding 26-point lead in Florida over Democratic presidential rival Bernie Sanders in a new Quinnipiac University Poll released Friday.

Clinton, the former first lady and former secretary of state, is supported by 59 percent of likely Democratic primary voters compared with 33 percent backing Sanders, a U.S. senator from Vermont.

Sanders actually beats Clinton with male voters. But Clinton dominates among female voters, 69 percent of whom back her compared to 24 percent for Sanders. Clinton also leads both with "very liberal" and "moderate to conservative" Democrats in Florida.

"This has been a turbulent political year, but the Florida Democratic primary looks like a blowout," said Peter Brown, the poll's assistant director. …
