TAMPA, Fla. - Nathan Eovaldi came up with tightness in his left groin during a running drill a few days ago and had a session of live batting practice canceled.

He has been throwing on flat ground and participating in fielding drills for the pitchers.

"I feel fine. They're just being really cautious," Eovaldi said Monday, adding that he'd pitch if this were the regular season.

General manager Brian Cashman said it was "a little issue" that "you give the time [to heal] because you have the time." And manager Joe Girardi said he was "not concerned about it."

The right-hander had his first spring start "moved back a couple of days, but will still get six starts in," the manager said.

BENCH REST? Girardi might be keeping the likes of Alex Rodriguez and Carlos Beltran on the bench when the Grapefruit League season begins Wednesday against the Phillies at Steinbrenner Field. …
