No. 1 in the Atlantic 10

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart grad Maureen Zivic, a junior on the Fordham University women's indoor track team, finished first in the 500-meter run at the eight-team Fordham Christmas Tournament on Dec. 10. Her winning time of 1 minute, 16.2 seconds ranks No. 1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference this season.

Cactus Bowl-bound

Rochester High grad Kris Griffin, a senior linebacker on the Indiana University of Pa. football team, will play in the Cactus Bowl, Division II all-star football game on Jan. 7 in Kingville, Texas.

Double trouble at Allegheny

Fort Cherry grads Courtney Steding and Raelynn Miles both produced double-doubles Monday for the Allegheny College women's basketball team in its 60-46 win over Westminster. Steding, a junior forward, tallied 11 points, 13 rebounds, while Miles, a senior guard, had 12 points, 10 rebounds.

For the season, Steding is averaging 8.5 points and a team-best 8.5 rebounds a game. Miles is averaging 4.0 points, 5.0 rebounds a game. Allegheny is 4-4.

Men's college basketball

Blackhawk grad Brandon Fuss-Cheatham, a senior guard on the Division I Ohio State men's basketball team, is averaging 6.4 points a game and leads the team in assists with 37. The Buckeyes are 8-2.

Sto-Rox High School grad Demetris Pringle, a senior guard at LaRoche College, is averaging a team-best 20.1 points a game. The Redhawks are 2-5.

Blackhawk High grad Ryan Evanochko, a sophomore guard at Division I Wisconsin-Green Bay, is averaging 11.0 points a game and is shooting a team-best 85 percent (23 for 27) from the free-throw line. After eight games, Wisconsin-Green Bay is 5-3.

Sto-Rox grad Ed Peterson, a junior guard at Division II Indiana University of Pa., was averaging 11.4 points a game heading into yesterday's play. After 10 games, the Indians were 8-2.

Hopewell High grad Matt Majzlik, a 6-5 junior forward at Division III Allegheny College, had 20 points Saturday in a 79-66 win over Thiel. Majzlik connected on 8 of 11 shots from the floor and was 4 for 4 from the free-throw line. For the season, he is averaging 16.6 points and a team-high 6.0 rebounds a game. The Gators are 3- 5.

Center High grad Jim Deep, a sophomore guard at Division III Bethany College, is averaging 12.4 points a game and is second on the Bison (8-2) in 3-pointers with 22.

Aliquippa High grad Dwight Hines, a 6-1 junior guard at Division II Pitt-Johnstown, is averaging 12.2 points a game and leads UPJ (5- 6) in steals with 20. …
