Native American Artists Selected for OKC Murals

OKLAHOMA CITY - Two teams of artists have been selected for murals for the Sheridan Avenue underpass in downtown Oklahoma City.

Downtown Oklahoma City Inc. and the Chickasaw Nation announced the artists on Monday.

The first team includes Chad "Nish" Earles and Rhiana Deck, who will complete a mural titled Earth to Sky.

J. NiCole Hatfield and Steven Grounds were selected as artists for the other team. They will complete a mural titled Strength of the Woman.

"Oklahoma City is becoming nationally recognized as a center for public art, and our organization partnering with the Chickasaw Nation to add more creativity and diversity will hopefully contribute to that reputation," said Jill DeLozier, vice president of Downtown OKC Inc.

The Sheridan underpass will be the second underpass to incorporate artwork in the area. …
