A NEW campaign is aiming to encourage more women to get into sport.

The 'I Will if you Will' movement - part of the wider national 'This Girl Can' campaign - helps people to summon up the motivation to lace up their trainers for the first time.

It's all about playing sport with friends, making it fun and not an uphill, daunting challenge.

Joining a netball team could be just the kick you need to get back into the fitness regime.

Sport England has invested Pounds 2.3m in to IWIYW and has chosen Bury to pilot the scheme, which involves a number of sports from Zumba and aerobics to swimming and cardio tennis. It is now a fully fledged programme, funded by Pounds 4.5m from Sport England.

I'll Play if you Play, which takes place on Saturday at Philips High School in Whitefield, is one of the major events organised by the initiative coming up. …
