ATALENTED young footballer has been told he may never walk again after suffering a horrific spinal injury whilst training.

Former Rochdale academy player Ellis Robinson, 17, was having a game of five-a-side with his uncle and players from Oldham team Limeside King George when he was involved in a bizarre collision last week.

A fellow player fell on top of Ellis as he was sat on the floor, in a seemingly innocuous incident at The Hathershaw College.

However he almost immediately lost all feeling below his chest.

He was rushed to Salford Royal hospital and underwent emergency surgery the next day, lasting more than eight hours, to repair his vertebrae.

However, one of them has damaged his spinal chord and doctors say he faces a battle to regain full movement in his legs. …
