Ammies Boss Rules out Title after Defeat against Rivals

JOINT-MANAGER Anthony Johnson feels the Evo-Stik North title is now beyond SALFORD CITY.

The Ammies were already playing catch-up before losing 3-2 at promotion rivals Darlington in midweek.

That made it five defeats from 10 for Salford and left them 15 points behind leaders Blyth, so the Ammies now face a battle to hang on to a play-off spot as they host seventh-placed ASHTON UNITED today.

"We're under no illusions about winning it, with Blyth being as far away as they are and Darlo having games in hand," said Johnson.

"Darlo had games in hand last season and dropped it, but I don't think they'll do it again.

"They seem to have a lot more resolve - and we seem to be the opposite. That's down to me and Bernard (Morley) to sort out.

"We've got to ensure we stay in the top five because we've got another two tough games coming up against Ashton and (third-placed) Workington. …
