Being a Republican or Democrat in America doesn't demand or require that we vote in lockstep with our party if that party is demonstrably bad for the country.

If both political parties are bad, and you're faced with no alternative? You must patriotically vote for the lesser of two evils. But how are we, the people, ever going to change that?

I'll tell you how. We must get money out of politics. Corporations. Billionaires. Special interests and lobbyists. They exist to serve a truly minuscule minority of America yet have disproportionate influence over legislation, regulation and elections.

Their collective narrow interest outweighs the national interest in spades, and if you think that's the way our founding fathers wanted this to roll, you have forgotten why we declared independence in the first place. …
