SALFORD CITY will look to strengthen their grip on second place in the Evo-Stik Premier when they visit Skelmersdale United today.

The Ammies can still catch leaders Blyth but have focused on securing a play-off place, beating promotion rivals Ashton United and Workington in the last week.

Salford are now nine points off top spot, although Darlington, Stourbridge and Ashton have games in hand.

"If someone had offered us wins against Ashton and Workington, with eight goals in them, we'd have ripped their arm off!" said jointmanager Anthony Johnson. "It was two massive results in terms of where we want to get to, and to do it against two sides who are trying to do the same as us, it gives the lads a massive lift. It's in our hands to stay in second place. They can't all win their games in hand because they've got to play each other now. …
