It was always going to be an uphill fight against arguably the deepest squad in the league.

But stripped of the suspended Stefan Gill and the injured Ingus Bankevics - two of Giants' go-to scorers - as well as Sam Attah, Yorick Williams' men really had their work cut out.

They made a spirited start, taking the first quarter 19-15 but the Riders, second in the table, effectively won the game with 31 second-quarter points that the visitors could only counter with 12 of their own.

The Riders stretched their lead to 20 at 65-45 going into the fourth and it remained there or thereabouts until the final buzzer. …
