Tough Ending for Kenseth, Elliott

Sunday's Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway didn't end well for Matt Kenseth and Chase Elliott.

Kenseth spun inTurn 2on lap 224 in Sunday's race and that triggered a multi-car incident that ended badly when Elliott had nowhere to go but into the rear end of the Joe Gibbs Racing driver's Toyota.

Both cars, that were competitive in therace,were severely damaged in the melee that also saw Carl Edwards and Kurt Busch slide through.

"I really don't know what happened," Kenseth said. "I just turned off in there and spun off before I honestly knew what was happening. I don't know why it spun out. I tried to save it the best I could and just got hit hard from behind and ended up wrecking it."

Kenseth has started the year off on a note of bad luck and frustration. He was leading the Daytona 500 on the final lap but was passed by a pack of cars heading to the checkered flag and finished 14th while teammate Denny Hamlin took the victory. …
