Pso, Aspen Music Festival Set Up a Special Residency

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and music director Manfred Honeck will head to the Aspen Music Festival and School in August, marking the first collaboration between a professional orchestra and the prestigious music festival since the 1950s.

"It's an incredible honor, and we're absolutely thrilled," symphony president and CEO Melia Tourangeau said. "I think it's a huge coup for us."

Founded in 1949, the Colorado festival presents performances by renowned artists and serves as a training ground for student musicians each summer. The PSO's three-concert residency takes place Aug. 23-25, shortly after Aspen's main season concludes. The festival's president and CEO, Alan Fletcher, is a former professor and the head of Carnegie Mellon University's School of Music.
