Shawnee County Commissioner Bob Archer Announces He'll Seek Re- Election

Shawnee County Commissioner Bob Archer announced Thursday he will seek re-election.

Archer has held a Republican seat on the commission since 2013 when he replaced Democrat Ted Ensley as representative of District 3, which covers south and southeast Topeka and south and southeast Shawnee County.

Archer touted enhanced parks and recreation programs, re- evaluating county employee compensation and work on county roads and bridges, including Willard Bridge, as major accomplishments. None those things would be possible, he said, without financial stability.

"That was a huge accomplishment," he said in an interview. "We were on a downward path, and we made tough decisions."

Archer also sees the transition to GraceMed for county health center services as a positive. The move could save taxpayers $2 million, he said.

He said he wanted to continue focusing on tight budget management to keep taxes low, job growth and economic development, improved customer service for residents and enhanced parks and recreation offerings. …
