More Woes for Officer Accused of Firing Gun

PATERSON -- The police officer who was arrested last week for allegedly firing a handgun and injuring two men during an off-duty incident outside a downtown convenience store now faces departmental administrative charges, officials said.

Dante Gordon, 25, was charged on Feb. 25 with conduct unbecoming a public employee, the day after the shooting and was suspended without pay, said Capt. Richard Reyes, head of the police department's Internal Affairs division.

Authorities arrested Gordon on March 4 on weapons and assault charges, alleging that he fired his weapon after pointing it at a man outside the 7-Eleven at the corner of Main and Market streets, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes said last week.

The criminal charges are being handled by the Prosecutor's Office. …
