LANCASHIRE ace Tom Smith went a long way to putting his injury nightmare to bed by bowling nine overs in a friendly against Yorkshire in Dubai.

The talismanic allrounder has not played any cricket since the opening Championship match of last season before having surgery on a career-threatening back injury.
