Wayne School Board to Vote on Budget with Tax Increase

WAYNE -- The Board of Education will vote on a preliminary 2016- 17 school budget on Thursday that would require a property tax increase.

The budget of $153,085,082 was introduced to the board on March 3 and would be supported by a general fund tax levy of $140,518,945, according to Business Administrator Juanita Petty.

The owner of an average home in the township, assessed at $228,200, would see a rise in the school tax bill of $131 if the budget stayed as is.

State aid this year to the district rose about 2.4 percent, from $3,946,414 to $4,042,746.
