WOMAN DIES IN FALL OVER BRIDGE RAILINGS ; ?Victim Suffers Severe Head Injuries in Incident Police Say Is Not Being Treated as Suspicious

THE death of a woman who is believed to have fallen from a bridge is not being treated as suspicious.

Police were scrambled to Athol Road, near to the Fallowfield Loop in Whalley Range, Manchester, after a member of the public found the woman injured and unresponsive.

Paramedics and fire crews also attended.

It is understood the woman, thought to be in her early twenties, was dead before emergency services arrived at around 5.45am yesterday, having suffered severe head injuries.

It is believed the woman fell over the railings, on Kingsbrook Road, landing on the off-road cycle and walking path below.

The entrance to the popular jogging route, off Athol Road, was cordoned off as officers investigated the circumstances of the woman's death.

The path was re-opened by around 10am, but officers remained at the scene for a number of hours. …
