Europa League Ref Was 'Worst at the World Cup'

HE was voted the worst referee at the 2014 World Cup and he's been handed the job of controlling the powder keg Europa League tie between United and Liverpool tomorrow.

And a bad omen for the Reds is that Serbian Milorad Mazic was also in charge of United's Champions League group match in Germany last December against Wolfsburg that saw Louis van Gaal's side knocked out of the Champions League.

Mazic was given the dubious title as the Brazil tournament's poorest official after being involved in several controversial incidents.

At the World Cup Mazic took charge of Germany against Portugal and Argentina against Iran, leaving behind a trail of anger.

He awarded Germany a fiercely-contested penalty, then sent off Portugal's Pepe. After Argentina scraped past Iran, a failure to award a penalty left the Iranian boss and Sir Alex Ferguson's ex- United number two, Carlos Queiroz, in a fury: "How can this guy sleep tonight, or for the rest of his life? …
