Fitness Key to Red Rose Glory This Season Says Boss Giles

ASHLEY Giles wants Lancashire to be the fittest team in county cricket.

Last season they ran out of steam in their bid to win Division Two of the County Championship, with Surrey eventually pipping them to the title after the Red Rose had topped the table for most of the campaign.

But having secured promotion, Giles knows his side can't afford to do the same if they are to mount any sort of title challenge this season.

After a long winter of fitness work, Lancashire are now in Dubai putting the final touches to their preparations ahead of the new season, which begins on April 17 when they host Nottinghamshire in the Championship at Emirates Old Trafford.
