TECUMSEH -- Some might not think that physical education and vocal music go together, but teachers at Tecumseh North Elementary school found a way.

At Monday night's Shawnee Heights Unified School District 450 board meeting, physical education teacher Sharon Covert and vocal music teacher Tonya Judd gave a presentation about a fifth-grade field trip to Sports Lab at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs. The students took notes about the experiments they did, and later wrote their own lyrics to accompany the folk song melody, "Oh Susannah."

"There is so much information to be learned at the Sports Lab," Covert said. "They have an exercise bike that is hooked up to a skeleton, so as the kids pedal they can see the bones move. …
