Alum Creek Lions Club Sponsoring Annual Community Clean-Up April 2

It's nearly time for spring cleaning in Alum Creek.

On Saturday, April 2, community volunteers will participate in the 21st annual Alum Creek cleanup, which is sponsored by the Alum Creek Lions Club. Starting Tuesday, March 29, bags for litter can be picked up from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Jim Ryan's Alum Creek barbershop. The state Division of Highways and the Adopt-A-Highway program in Lincoln and Kanawha counties are providing the bags and other items.

Volunteers are asked to pick up litter along the roads, tie the bags and leave them on the side on the road. They will be picked up by the DOH on Monday, April 4. The bags are for litter only -- no home garbage and no tires.

Also, volunteers, once they've picked up their bags at the barbershop, are free to pick up litter along their sections of road at any time during the week leading up to April 2. …
