Lethal Centurions Put Swinton to the Sword ; LEIGH 42 SWINTON 12

DESPITE a late flurry, Swinton Lions could do little to prevent Leigh Centurions moving to the top of the Kingstone Press Championship.

After opening-day defeat to Batley Bulldogs, the Centurions have now dropped just one point in the following six rounds.

"Swinton have run a lot of teams close so I'm delighted to get the win," said head coach Neil Jukes.

"In the second half, we could have got a few more points, but we did a really good job on them first half."

Despite the final scoreline, Swinton coach John Duffy was happy with the overall performance from his team.

"We've had a good dig. I thought some individual errors early on in the first half cost us and you can't do that against Leigh."

The part-time Lions started strongly, but could not capitalise on the early pressure. …
