SEASON OF SHARING

For the third year in a row,__ the Season of Sharing campaign__ has raised more than__ $2 million to provide families__ under financial duress with__ the means to avoid losing their__ homes.__ This year's total was__ achieved when a $100,000__ anonymous gift made through__ the Manatee Community__ Foundation lifted community__ funding to the level required__ for several additional founda- tion__ grants to kick in. The grand__ total to date of $2,003,120 is__ just short of last year's all-time__ record of $2,018,948.__ For the second consecutive__ year, the Charles & Margery__ Barancik Foundation, major__ donors since 2013, pushed__ the total past the $2 million__ goal with a $200,000 capping__ grant.__ "It's a wrap!" said Teri A.__ Hansen, president and CEO__ of the Barancik Foundation.__ "We hope that the families who__ are helped feel the community's__ arms wrapped__ supportively around__ them and that someday__ they may be in a position__ to wrap their arms around__ others through Season of__ Sharing."__ Other grants included__ $100,000 from the Wil-liam__ G. and Marie Selby__ Foundation and $300,000__ from the Patterson Foundation,__ which gave a__ $100,000 matching grant__ each time an additional__ $500,000 was raised__ during the campaign.__ "Many families live__ on the edge of stabil- ity,__ where unforeseen__ circumstances send__ them into turmoil," said__ Debra Jacobs, president__ and CEO of the Pa-terson__ Foundation, a__ longtime supporter of__ Season of Sharing. "Year__ after year, thousands__ of caring donors give so__ those in crisis feel relief.__ The Patterson Founda-tion__ knows that each of__ us can make a difference__ and we are honored to__ give of our resources along__ with others. Caring for__ others makes us a better__ community."__ While large gifts from__ local foundations lifted__ the campaign over $2__ million, 69 percent of the__ more than 2,900 dona-tions__ made this year were__ in amounts of $100 or less.__ The Community Foundation__ of Sarasota County,__ which has partnered__ with the Herald-Tribune__ Media group for 16 years__ to advance the campaign,__ will disburse the funds__ to a network of local__ nonprofits. …
