Fair Lawn Oks 2-Year Animal Control Contract

Fair Lawn -- The Borough Council has approved a contract with Tyco Animal Control, which it turned to last year as it outsourced services.

Tyco was given a one-year agreement in April 2015 for borough animal control services, which eliminated the borough's department.

Tyco was paid $39,600 in the previous contract. The new contract is for $42,000 for 2016 and the same amount in 2017. Borough Manager Jim Van Kruiningen said that still is under the rate charged by the county to provide animal control services.

The Borough Council approved the contract Tuesday.

"We came in under budget," Van Kruiningen said of the past year, adding that anticipated savings came to fruition. Borough officials had stated last year while considering outsourcing animal control services that the change would save more than $100,000 a year. …
