Amrhein Is the Answer Man

Article excerpt

To his customers in Bethel Park, Andy Amrhein is the owner of EveyTrue Value Hardware on Library Road. To listeners of KDKA radio's True Value Home Improvement Hour that airs at 10 a.m. Saturdays, he's been dubbed "Mr. True Value Hardware," the man who has the solution to almost any home improvement problem.

He's nice to everyone and people really relate to him," Pratte said, pointing out that Amrhein stayed on the air for four hours on Sept. 18, the day after floods resulting from Hurricane Ivan did significant damage in the area. Amrhein spent another two hours the following day, answering questions about flood damage for callers.

After the flood shows, Pratte said, Amrhein made arrangements for people to travel to flooded areas to help clear the homes of elderly widows who were unable to move toppled furniture and appliances. …
