Police officers in Pleasant Hills and Whitehall were among those honored at the Amen Corner's fourth annual John Heinz Law Enforcement luncheon on Nov. 1 for outstanding or courageous efforts in law enforcement.

Pleasant Hills Officer James Falconio received the organization's Quick Thinking Award for work that resulted in the arrest in July of a suspect in a homicide in West Jefferson.

"This was an exceptional arrest," said police Chief Floyd Nevling, who commended the five-year veteran of the force for aggression and intuition.

The Amen Corner, a civic and social organization founded in 1870, established the awards program in 2000 to recognize superior efforts by those in law enforcement.

The awards were bestowed at ceremonies at Station Square, South Side.
