Best assets: The Braves again should be a serious challenger for Big North Freedom Division, county and North 1, Group 3 state championships. Senior LF Siena Mayer-Costa (.340), junior C Caitlyn Logatto (.304, 16 RBI), junior OF Julia Blezow and sophomore P Angela Saric (3-0, 0.88 ERA) should spark the Braves, who reached the semifinals of both the Bergen County tournament and state sectional tournament a year ago after going unbeaten and winning a triple crown (league, county, state) in 2014. Sophomore OF Meghan Halloran, freshman IF Sarah Stocker, freshman SS/P Kelly Hoover and junior 1B/P Corinne Shustyk are among the young players who could make valuable contributions.

Biggest concerns: Coach Joe Leicht, in his 19th season at the Braves helm, has a good mix of veteran leaders and quality underclassmen, but Indian Hills did switch some players to different positions. …
