Rooney: I'm Not Too Far Away from Return

WAYNE Rooney has revealed he will return to training in the next 10 days.

The United striker has been out of action with knee ligament damage since last month.

There were fears he would miss the rest of the season - placing his Euro 2016 hopes in serious doubt.

But the 30-year-old provided an update on his recovery.

Speaking to ITV he said: "I think if everything goes to plan, I am back outside running now, then I will hope to be back in full training within the next week or 10 days.

"I am not too far away." Rooney also responded to suggestions his England place is under threat following the Three Lions' 3-2 win against world champions Germany over the weekend.

The emergence of players like Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Deli Alli means Rooney faces competition to be in Roy Hodgson's starting XI - but he said: "As I have said throughout my career at Man United and with England, I never take my place for granted. …
