Help Sought to Identify Wayne Bank Robber

WAYNE -- Township police are asking for help identifying a suspect in the robbery of an M&T Bank branch on March 8 who authorities believe has robbed six other banks in North Jersey since July.

The man approached the teller at M&T Bank on Route 23, announced a robbery was taking place and left with about $9,000, Capt. Laurence Martin said in a news release.

The suspect is described as a black male 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 1 inch and wearing an olive military-style jacket, a white button-down shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers, Martin said.

The man was identified as a suspect by the FBI in a string of bank robberies, mostly at Hudson City Savings branches in Bergen County, in Oradell, Lyndhurst, Glen Rock, New Milford, River Edge and Maywood. …
