Paterson Man, 27, Is Shot in the Back

PATERSON -- A 27-year-old city man was wounded early Friday during a street altercation near the 4th Ward house where a 7-year- old boy had been hit in the shoulder by stray bullet about a month earlier, according to authorities.

The victim in Friday's incident -- Paterson's 25th shooting of the year -- was shot in the back and was in stable condition at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, police said.

"At this time it appears that the victim was in the area with several others when some type of altercation ensued, and multiple shots were fired at the scene," reads the news release issued by the Paterson Police Department.

The shooting happened about 2 a.m. near Rosa Parks Boulevard and Warren Street, police said.

On Feb. 29, 7-year-old Jayden De Leon was inside his home when he was wounded in the shoulder by a bullet fired on the street outside, police said. …
