Canstruction Competition Set at Penn Square Mall

OKLAHOMA CITY - Large structures made from canned food will be on display this weekend at Penn Square Mall in Oklahoma City.

Canstruction will feature teams of designers, engineers and architects building structures made entirely of canned food. Companies participating in the competition include GSB Inc., Womble Co., Guernsey, McRoof, Oklahoma Natural Gas and OneSource. The teams will have 12 hours to complete structures, beginning at 9:30 p.m. Friday.

Oklahoma City is among 150 cities with Canstruction competitions. The overall winners of each city can compete in an international competition.

"Not only is it creatively stimulating for the companies participating, this competition brings food pantries, like The Salvation Army's, to the public's attention and shines a light on the importance of food assistance programs," said Julie Coffee, owner of High Impact Management, host for the competition. …
