LOUIS van Gaal has been given assurances he will be at Old Trafford next season, according to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

The 64-year-old has a year left on the three-year contract he signed when took over at Old Trafford in 2014 but has come under increasing pressure after a disappointing season.

Jose Mourinho and Ryan Giggs have both been linked with the job if the Dutchman leaves this summer - and that speculation only intensified when Van Gaal was omitted from a video produced by the Reds to promote their pre-season tour of China.

But there were reports over the weekend LVG had won a significant battle with United's commercial department to ensure they only play two games during a reduced eight-day trip to the Far East.

And De Telegraaf - who were first to break news of Van Gaal's appointment in 2014 - say the veteran manager has been told he will be in charge next season and has been given Pounds 80m to spend, a large portion of which they say he'll use in a bid to sign striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton. …
