Becoming a U.S. senator is not an entry-level position. It does not come with training wheels.

I am a retired Army veteran. Like many other citizens, I don't trust Washington. A recent Pew Research poll reported 80 percent of those surveyed don't trust Washington and for good reasons.

As a veteran, I am worried about how dangerous the world situation is. The biggest threats to us are cyber and asymmetrical warfare. We need a military that focuses on quality and not so much on quantity. We have plenty of hardware.

We need a senator who has experience and knowledge combating terrorist threats and understands public policy. We do not require a former state administrator who has been focused primarily on the environment or someone who has only local elected experience.
