Blues Facing Vinny Battle ; Kompany Close to Return - but Belgium Tell City Not to Take Any Risks with Skipper

CITY are on another collision course with Belgium over their inspirational skipper Vincent Kompany.

The Blues are hoping that Kompany could be fit for next Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg against PSG after making big strides in his rehabilitation work on his latest calf injury.

But the Belgian FA have asked City not to take any risks with Kompany, who also captains the national team. They fear another breakdown could rule him out of Euro 2016.

That plea will cause some derision in the Blues' camp, after Belgium ignored City's own pleas for the player not to be risked in a Euros qualifier in October, as he came back from a month's lay- off.

Blues boss Manuel Pellegrini made a rare public protest after that, saying: "I was not pleased because we sent Vincent with a medical report that he was not able to play, but as the manager of Belgium says, he can do what he wants. …
