A Paterson man accused of supplying the heroin that killed an Allendale man in 2014 rejected a plea offer of eight years in state prison Wednesday.

State Superior Court Judge Christopher Kazlau in Hackensack told 21-year-old Kaleik Easton that if he is convicted at trial, he faces the possibility of consecutive sentences for some of the charges and between 10 and 20 years in prison on the most serious charge.

"Essentially what the state is offering you, I can tell you, is substantially less than what you would receive in the event you went to trial and were convicted of the most serious charge," Kazlau said.

Easton's attorney, Gayle Hargrove, said after the hearing that her client contends that he did not provide the fatal dose of heroin and that there was evidence of other drugs found in the victim's bedroom. …
