ETSU Switching Food Vendors Starting in June

JOHNSON CITY -- East Tennessee State University is switching meal vendors.

The administration selected France-based Sodexo to replace Aramark to provide food services on the campus.

ETSU had notified Aramark last fall that it would terminate its contract with the university three years early on June 30 of this year rather than ending in 2019.

In an email letter that went out campuswide on Thursday, ETSU Vice President for Student Affairs Joe Sherlin said administrators wanted to ensure that the food service provider could be involved in the planning stages for the renovation and expansion project at the D.P. Culp University Center, which is scheduled for completion in summer 2019.

ETSU issued a request for proposals in January, allowing administrators to consider food service options from multiple potential partners. Two proposals -- from Aramark and Sodexo -- were received in response.

"Both companies' proposals were reviewed by an evaluation team and included a presentation to the team," Sherlin wrote. "After careful review and consideration, ETSU has issued an intent to award the contract to Sodexo in accordance with TBR and University procurement guidelines."
